Waste hemp and flax fibers and cotton and cotton/polyester yarns for removal of methylene blue from wastewater: Comparative study of adsorption properties

Waste hemp and flax fibers, cotton cotton/polyester yarns, available in large quantities from the textile industry, were used as cheap effective sorbents for removal of methylene blue wastewater. fibers yarns characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, iodine sorption, water retention, point zero charge, well through determination crystallinity index degree surface crystallinity. The adsorption was optimized examining influence contact time, initial concentration, temperature, pH value. It found that more ordered structure leads to lower capacities better agreement with pseudo-second order kinetic Langmuir isotherm model, while heterogeneous shows higher adsorption, described pseudo-first Freundlich model. Based on obtained results, waste lignocellulosic can be discoloration wastewater, thereby solving problem generated industry.
